Frequently Asked Questions

How long after a stock report filing do my positions get updated?

Immediately! Our systems will pick up the report as soon as it is filed and will update your positions accordingly. You may see a slight delay due to execution times - this is largely due your brokerage not filling the trade request as quickly as we'd like. We are continually working on improving this latency in order to get the best fills via your brokerage.

How do your subscriptions work?

Each Pilot has their own subscription plan. With a premium subscription to a Pilot, you get access to automatic future buying & selling for all of their portfolios. When they buy, you buy; when they sell, you sell.

Why does my Autopilot account value not match my broker?

The value that you see within the app is the market value of your current positions plus the remainder of the buying power you have given to us to use. If you set up Autopilot with Nancy Pelosi with $1,000, we might be able to only use $980 or $995 of the available buying power. The remaining buying power we still take into account when calculating the account value you see in the app.

If you see a significant difference in Autopilot allocation and your brokerage or if your Autopilot shows more than in your brokerage, feel free to reach out to support@joinautopilot.com.

How do I delete my account?

On iOS:

1.Open the Autopilot app and tap on the Account icon on the navigation bar
2.Tap on the Account icon on the navigation bar
3.Tap "Account"
4.Tap “Delete Account”

5.Confirm that you want to permanently delete by tapping “Delete Account” When you delete your account, we delete all personal information collected as detailed in our Privacy Policy unless otherwise required by law for a certain retention period.

When will Autopilot start making trades for me?

If you set up Autopilot outside of market hours, the trades will not go through until next market open at 9:30 am EST.

If you set up Autopilot within market hours (9:30 am EST to 4 pm EST) and have not seen any trades go through please note that the trades can be delayed up to 15 minutes.

If the trades have not been placed with your brokerage within 15 minutes, please reach out to us at support@joinautopilot.com.

Where does my money go after I add money to Autopilot?

Your money never leaves your brokerage, that's the beauty of Autopilot. We do not hold your money or your stocks. When you “allocate” money to be used by Autopilot, this only tells us how much of your money we are allowed to use towards trading stocks in your account. This money never leaves your brokerage, and no bank transfers take place.

Can I autopilot multiple Pilots at once?

Yes! Autopilot+ subscribers are allowed to copy as many pilots as they please and get all trades copied - as long as they have the buying power in their brokerage to do so. Basic members can also initiate as many pilots as they want - however no future trades will be placed besides the initial holdings.

To add additional Pilots:

1. Tap the plus icon on the home screen
2. Choose a new Pilot
3. Follow the flow to allocate an amount and start piloting

How does Autopilot handle a Pilot buying into a new position with the money already allocated to it?

We automatically balance your portfolio based on new allocation or Pilot activity. Autopilot matches your portfolio proportionally to your Pilot. If the Pilot buys into a new position, this will decrease their percentage stake of their current positions. To rebalance, Autopilot will buy and sell proportionally to those positions.

How are your brokerage integrations built?

When you link your brokerage with us, we proxy your authentication to your brokerage, then use the authentication tokens to fetch the data necessary to set up your account with Autopilot. We then maintain connection by using these tokens (hashed tokens) to fetch new tokens before they expire. We use bank-level security to store any and all data associated with your account. We work very similarly to Plaid. You may revoke our access to your account by following the prompts in your brokerage.

Does Autopilot copy short trades or crypto holdings?

No, Autopilot does not copy any short positions and will not place any short position trades with your brokerage. Autopilot also does not invest in crypto or options.

How does the trading occur in my broker?

We use your brokerage's API to place trades. When you connect your brokerage with us, we are given authentication tokens (no username or password) to make requests to your brokerage on your behalf. We use these tokens to buy and sell stocks according to your pilot's trades.

Does Autopilot trade on margin if my brokerage account allows it?

Yes, we may place margin trades if your brokerage account allows it depending on your margin settings. Autopilot will trade on margin based on your chosen allocation in Autopilot and your margin buying power.

Does Autopilot automatically reinvest my profits?

Yes, we will automatically rebalance your portfolio based on the pilot's holdings and your buying power within your allocation and profits.

Does Autopilot touch my other stocks in my brokerage account, especially if they are the same ticker?

No, Autopilot does not touch any of your current holdings. It will only sell shares bought by Autopilot.
